Goodwill Industries Most Recent Victim of Hackers

The customer credit-card database of the job training and employment placement non-profit organization Goodwill Industries has been breached by hackers, according to an article recently published on the Consumer Affairs website. The article indicates that “fraudulent credit-card purchases” have been tracked to credit card accounts linked to “Goodwill stores in at least 21 different states” but details released from original reports “remain sketchy.” According to the article, “fraudulent charges” made with the credit card accounts have been connected to “major supermarkets or big-box retail stores” and each have “common point of purchase” in states including  California, Florida, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Texas and many more. Microsoft Says Windows Server 2003 Support Ends Next Year

Technology icon Microsoft Corporation has announced that support of the server operating system (OS), Windows Server 2003, will officially end next year, according to an article recently published on the E Week website. The article indicates that the company will end the support phase of the OS, bringing the deployment of  “security patches and bug fixes” to an end on July 14, 2015 – seeing the same end as Windows XP did this past April. Apple, IBM Partner to Develop Enterprise Solutions

Recent  announcements confirm that computer industry giants Apple Computer and IBM have created a partnership to “build new, enterprise-oriented solutions that will tightly integrate iOS devices“, according to a recent article published on the Web Host Industry Review website. Researchers Confirm Increase of Malware Hosted in U.S.

Security firm Solutionary reported on Tuesday that “56% of the malware it captured via sensors and other means was hosted in the U.S.“, according to a recent article published on the Network World website. The article indicates that according to the firm’s quarterly “global malware distribution and threat report”  there has been a “12% increase from six months ago” and outlined that approximately “half of the malware overall appeared to originate at 10 Internet service and hosting providers.” Listed in the report were well-known providers including Google, Akamai, Amazon Web Services, GoDaddy and others, according to the article. A security firm has recently reported that a “sophisticated group of hackers“, suspected to have links to China’s government, have been “breaching” computer systems of Iraq experts soon after the rebellion in the country began to escalate, according to a recent article published on the Reuters website. The article indicates that this same group are those who have “targeted U.S experts on Asian geopolitical matters” for years. Security Researchers Expose Brazilian Cybercrime Ring
