On any given day, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes here at Hostwinds. Whether it’s upgrading hardware, testing new services we’re developing to make things easier for you or implementing new, unique features that have been requested… there’s always something.

And in the past, these things were usually rolled out quietly. You might log in to your account one day and be like, “Um, what’s this new thing here?”

So to help keep you in the loop, each month we’ll be sharing news, new services or products that you might not have known about.

This month, it’s all about domains!

Below you’ll learn about some new features that have recently been added to help you register and manage all your domains easier.

New TLDs Available

First of all, you can now register any of the hundreds of domains that are supported by Enom (You can see the vast selection of them here). In the past, Hostwinds only offered about 20 domain extensions, which was pretty limited. So we’re thrilled to make this expansion so you can have total freedom on the type of domain you want to use.

Quickly Register Unregistered Domains or Transfer Existing Ones

You’re by no means required to have your domains registered with us. But when you have your domain and hosting all under the same roof, it’s easier and faster for you to manage everything.

Also, if you ever need our support agents’ help in making changes to your domain, we can only do that if the domain is here. If it’s registered somewhere else, we can’t access it and help you out.

Our new tool will help you easily move any of your externally registered domains to us or let you quickly register an unregistered one with us.

cPanel Main Domain

We’ve made it super easy for you to change the main domain for your cPanel account. This applies to anyone using any of our Shared, Business or Reseller hosting plans. All you have to do is login to your Hostwinds account and go to your account’s product page. There you’ll see the option on the left for Change Domain.

If you need step by step instructions, see our knowledgebase article for changing your main domain name here.

If you like these new features, please share this article for others to learn about them. Is there something specific you’d like to see added in the future? If so, please leave a comment below so we can take it into consideration.
