Front-Line Imaginative Interviews, Ideas, & Inquiries Pt. 2

Staff Interview

Welcome back to Hostwinds’ second edition of our Front-Line Team interview blog series. Last week we interviewed Hostiwnds’ Director of Front-Line Operations and this week we are moving on to Hostwind’s Data Center Manager. Here is a little context about how such Front-Line Team member fits within the Hostwinds Family.

About Dustin

Dustin is Hostwinds’ Data Center Expert. He fixes and handles those server things that are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond me and many others for that matter. Moreover,  he somehow knows how to make virtually every random word into the beginning of a song. For example, if one were to say “I woke up…,” Dustin would immediately jump in with (*Musical Notes*) “WAAAAKE ME UUUUP, BEFORE YOU GO GO, DON’T LEAVE ME HANGIN’ ON LIKE A YO-YO….” (*Musical Notes*) …You know the rest of that song, so no need for me to go on. On that note, let’s dive right into this interview.

Interview

1. How long have you been with Hostwinds?

HW Data Center Manager: I have been with Hostwinds for 13 months.

2. Why do you love checkered shirts so much?

Some more context might be helpful here before we carry on. Hostwinds’ Office Mom (aka Paige, Hostwinds’ Office Manager) informed me that Dustin has been wearing checkered shirts for so long and that he has so many variations of these kinds of shirts. Okay, moving on to our Data Center Manager’s response:

HW Data Center Manager: They bring out my eyes and handsome figure. Past that, and to spill the truth, they’re purchased for me by my wife and family.  If they say, “it looks good,” I go with that.

3. What is your job at Hostwinds?

HW Data Center Manager: Data Center Manager in a nutshell.  I oversee installations (drives, RAM, servers, and chassis) as well as the ordering and troubleshooting of our Seattle and Dallas locations…soon to be Amsterdam!

4. What’s your favorite color?

HW Data Center Manager: Is plaid a color based on your first questions?  If not, blue is my favorite color.

5. What do you wish everyone knew about Hostwinds’ data centers and/or data centers in general?

HW Data Center Manager: Our data centers are 100% redundant, from power to networking.  With this mentioned, Hostwinds is prepared for as many eventualities as possible to keep our customers connected.

6. What is the first item on your bucket list?

HW Data Center Manager: To buy my Dodge Viper and drive it down highway-101 with a hottie…aka MY WIFE! (*Giggles*)

7. In your opinion, what is the most important thing about Hostwinds for clients to know that they don’t already know?

HW Data Center Manager: That we are committed. In my opinion, companies get judged more for the things that go wrong, rather than what did they do right during a situation or how they make it right. I believe Hostwinds will always attempt to do the right thing.

8. We love your office karaoke. What is your go-to karaoke song?

HW Data Center Manager: Juke Box Hero ~Foreigner Why? Because there are stars in my eyes!

9. What are you most excited about regarding Hostwinds’ updates in 2019?

HW Data Center Manager: I am excited about our launch of Amsterdam, as we have many clients who can utilize such a location within Europe!

10. Which Beatle is your favorite?

HW Data Center Manager: Dung Beetles. (*Giggles*)

Before You Go

In summary, our Data Center Manager is both a data center and karaoke Jedi. Stay tuned for the next edition of our Front-Line Team interview blog series. The hope is that by the time we’ve done a few more of these employee interviews, you will see what a well-rounded group of one-of-a-kind individuals we are. Until next time, folks! Have a beautiful rest of the week and “WAAAKE ME UUUUUP, BEFORE YOU GO GO!…DON’T LEAVE ME HANGING ON LIKE A YO-YO (…wow, does anyone know the lyrics after this point in the song? I’m entirely unsure).” Okay, TTFN, ta-ta for now!
