In the midst of all this talk about Area 51 and AI (Artificial Intelligence) advanced enough to exhibit human emotion recognition, you may be wary about which individuals to consider ‘real’ human beings nowadays. Presently, it isn’t even obvious whether you are speaking to a real person when you reach out to a support team.
Well, we are here to officially confirm that every member of the Hostwinds Team is a real human…at least as far as we know.
Yes, our team is as real as it gets. Nevertheless, a few conspiracy theories have surfaced once or twice around the office about our Director of Front-Line Operations being an alien because of his innate ability to manage so many things at once. That’s aside from the point though, so we will digress.
Part 3 of the “Getting to Know the Hostwinds Family” blog series is here folks, and today we will be discussing everything from software applications to extraterrestrial activity with one of Hostwinds’ talented Front-Line Support Team Agents, David!
By the way, the following links will direct you to Part 1 and 2 of this blog series:
The Gift of Impeccable Timing
What first struck us about David is his impeccable timing.
It is apparent that the Hostwinds Team can all agree on one thing: We’ve all asked David questions about Hostwinds services or web hosting at one point or another, and he never hesitates to provide assistance. As you might imagine, David extends the same courtesy to our clients. He always seems to chime in with the solution to a problem at the perfect time.
In other words, David is one of those people who seemingly possesses all the answers, yet is patient as others attempt to find them. If the light bulb doesn’t go off for other team members, David reminds them he has their back by providing the right guidance at the right time. He also understands comedic timing quite well, which is much appreciated by the support team. Comedy is known to heal, and it is good for the soul.
Every employee here at Hostwinds has something unique to bring to the table, and David, in particular, has helped the Hostwinds Family by developing resources such as our company’s Live Stream.
Additionally, David contributed these impeccably-written guides to the Hostwinds Knowledge Base:
Now that we have the links to the impeccable guides, let’s review the impeccable answers David gave to our hard-hitting questions!
The Art of Answering Impeccably
1. What is the most important thing you’ve learned thus far as a Hostwinds Front-Line Support Team Representative?
David: While I had some experience in server management and hosting before joining Hostwinds, since I’ve started here I’ve definitely gotten a lot better of an understanding how online services and the internet work as a whole.
2. What Hostwinds Knowledge Base guide do you reference the most while providing clients with support?
David: Probably the articles on how to RDP or how to SSH into their server, or just, in general, the ones on methods of accessing a service.

PUSHING PLAY ON THE INTERVIEW:
3. What is your spirit animal?
David: The groundhog from Caddyshack.
4. If you could only use one software application for the rest of your life, which would you use?
David: Discord. You gotta keep in touch with friends, and now that it has a built-in game store, it’s got plenty of entertainment.
5. What is the most important piece of advice you would give to all Hostwinds clients?
David: Help us help you. Any additional information you’re able to provide to us, such as an error code/message that is being displayed, detailed description of the issue, etc., will greatly help us troubleshoot the issue.
6. What do you like to do for fun?
David: Lately, I’ve been getting in some fly fishing before it starts getting too cold out.
Otherwise, I always enjoy playing some games with friends (I’ve been playing quite of bit of Classic WoW since it came out).
7. Why would you choose Hostwinds as your hosting provider?
David: Service-wise, I like some of the tools that are available for them. Like being after to very easily reinstall not just the OS of a VPS, but also have some application pre-installed, is pretty handy.
As far as support goes, for the most part we’ve definitely got a faster turnaround time for support on average than some other hosts that I’ve had services with before.
8. If aliens came to earth, what would they look like and what would they do?
David: I’ll go for the Men in Black approach and say they’re already here but in disguise.
9. Is there anything you would like Hostwinds clients to know about either the company, staff, or services?
David: We’re all real people behind our support. Everyone that you talk to through our chat, over the phone, or in a ticket, is one of us on the other end. You’ll never find yourself talking to a bot.
10. What is your favorite book, and why?
David: I always loved The Phantom Tollbooth ever since I was a kid. It was entertaining, but also had plenty of lessons and metaphors on how to perceive things from a different outlook.
11. What is the best part about your job?
David: I really enjoy the people here at Hostwinds. It really has that smaller company, almost family level, feel rather than feeling like you’re just a small part of some large, obscure organization.
Hostwinds Employees are Neither Robots Nor Aliens. We’re the Real Deal.
Here’s something you should know about our company: Hostwinds executives really do take the time to hire people of integrity like David. This is the very reason our team feels like a family rather than a bunch of robots carrying out tasks in the same building. David hit the nail on the head there with impeccable response #11.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know our team better today, and we hope to illustrate the earnest convictions of every member of our staff in subsequent blog posts. Until Part 4, the Hostwinds Family wishes you well. In the interim, make sure to watch out for those undercover aliens and robots!
