The Hostwinds Family is what some might call an eclectic mix of individuals who are anything but normal. Well folks, we are here to report that we don’t mind being the black sheep within the web hosting industry. After all, it was the great Forrest Gump from the classic film, Forrest Gump, who asked, “What’s normal anyways?”
From our perspective, ‘normal’ isn’t always best. In fact, some of our most valuable hosting services were brought to fruition because of remarkable individuals in our company. Here at Hostwinds, we employ inventive and extraordinary people in order to develop inventive and extraordinary hosting solutions.
Professionals who are both knowledgeable and extraordinary are not exactly a dime a dozen. As such, we feel quite fortunate to have found each member of our indispensable team. One such staff member goes by the name of Greg. Greg began creating positive change within the Hostwinds Community the day he became a support team agent and hasn’t stopped since.
Today, Greg will be answering a series of inventive and extraordinary questions! Before becoming better acquainted with this Support Team Representative, the following preface is in order:
As you may have already ascertained, this Hostwinds staff interview is by no means unprecedented. Are you by any chance wondering how Parts 1 through 3 of this “Getting to Know the Hostwinds Family” series unfolded?
If you answered, “Yes,” click the links below to view Parts 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
The fun continues with Part 4! To start, some fun facts about Greg:
Greg is GREGarious
Our interviewee is aptly named Greg because he is the epitome of the word ‘Gregarious.’ Greg is not only friendly and outgoing, but also patient and humble.
Fun Fact About Greg: He is skilled in offering succinct advice to our clients and staff in an optimistic and entertaining fashion.
Greg is an exemplar of how a team player should act. Much like many other support team agents here at Hostwinds, Greg has surpassed our expectations by going above and beyond to assist and encourage both Hostwinds clients and staff members. He mitigates obstacles clients face while being cognizant of their time and unique circumstances. Consequently, clients and staff members alike trust him because of his candor and compassion. Furthermore, Greg’s instinctive ability to make something ordinary hilarious has benefited all those around him on numerous occasions.
It is nothing short of a miracle that Hostwinds has come to find multiple astute and eccentric employees like Greg since the company was founded in 2010. We suspect Forrest Gump would agree, as he once declared, “My mama always told me that miracles happen every day. Some people don’t think so, but they do.”
Now, let’s all conaGREGate to meet Greg.
ConGREGating to Meet Greg
Gather round! You’re sure to enjoy Greg’s original answers to the questions we asked him. Speaking of ‘enjoy,’ we’ll now digress to question number 1 with no further delays!
1. What do you enjoy most about your job?
Greg: I always enjoy being able to help clients that come to us with questions, and being able to teach them the answers. It both makes them more knowledgeable of what they need as well as letting myself know that I can help to fix these issues for our clients.
2. What is the most epic movie of all time?
Greg: The best movie of all time is Forrest Gump.
3. What would you like Hostwinds clients to know about our company?
Greg: Our hosting and support is made not only to see your site or business grow but to help you grow as well.
4. What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Greg: Many people know about the unique fingerprint each of us have, but few realize the fingerprint of our mind. The information that everyone knows is vastly unique, and no two people know the exact same things. Everyone experiences things in different ways that all affect us in a unique way. We are each made to think and problem solve and use our own mental fingerprint to do so.
5. What is the best piece of advice you’ve given a Hostwinds client?
Greg: Always make a backup, even for a small change. A moment of preparation can save you years of work.
6. What do you do in your free time?
Greg: In my free time I like to read a book, watch a movie, play a video game, or even just spend time with friends and family. In college, I had played Racquetball and very much enjoyed the sport, and I am looking to get back into it in the future.
7. Why choose Hostwinds?
Greg: The thing I like best about Hostwinds is that we are always here to help. We can always be reached and are always happy to see what we can do to help you.
8. What is your favorite quote?
Greg: “My Mama always said you’ve got to put the past behind you before you can move on.” – Forrest
9. What Hostwinds add-on service or tool do you think every client should look into?
Greg: I think one of the best add-on services you can add to your server would be the monitoring service, which would let you know within 5 minutes of any possible downtime for your sites and servers and will have our technicians look into the issue without you needing to ask us to do so.
10. If you had one superpower, what would it be?
Greg: Super Speed.
11. What is the most valuable piece of information you’ve learned since working as a Front-Line Support Team Agent?
Greg: Not knowing an answer to your problem does not reflect anything about your ability. We run into problems we have never seen every day.
12. What joke made you laugh the loudest?
Greg: There are 10 kinds of people, those who understand binary and those that don’t.
13. What animal hybrid would you like to see?
Greg: Dawgks (Dog + Hawk) or just any other flying creature, because dogs deserve to fly.
That quote from Forrest Gump is, as the kids say these days, “deep.” Speaking of ‘deep,’ it happens to be that time again to conclude with some esoteric and sentimental thoughts.
Hostwinds is an AgGREGate of Many Talented Characters
Generally speaking, our staff here at Hostwinds is made up of a bunch of gregacious team players. To tell you the truth, it does feel like a miracle to have built something incredible within the hosting industry.
Guess what? You are an integral component of this ‘incredible something’ we speak of! As per usual, the Hostwinds Team would like to thank you for adding value to the black-sheep-like legacy we’ve assembled, one small step at a time.
We’ll leave it to Forrest Gump to express the way we view our out-of-the-ordinary journey thus far:
“Always be able to look back and say, ‘At least I didn’t lead no humdrum life.’”
See, being the black sheep (or the ‘Dawgk,’ if you will) of an industry isn’t a bad thing at all. In fact, diversity makes life more fun! Weird is better than boring, folks. Weird is absolutely, unequivocally better than boring.
