Hostwinds for the Holidays: Holiday Cookies, Ugly Sweater Parties, & VPNs

Hostwinds' Holiday Party

The Hostwinds Team is all about boosting office morale with mini celebrations and the holidays are the best time to do so. How did the Hostwinds Team celebrate this week, you ask? UGLY HOLIDAY SWEATER PARTY! (*Musical Notes *) “It’s my ugly holiday sweater party and I’ll cry if I want toooooo” (*Musical Notes*). What’s that? You really want me to stop singing right this second? Will do! Instead, let’s discuss Hostwinds’ holiday party.

Cookies and Cheer

Here is the lowdown of what happened at the party! Oh, and it’s JUICY, folks!

Oh, and by “JUICY,” I mean just a bunch of the Hostwinds Team telling funny jokes and eating cookies…while looking mildly ridiculous in our holiday sweaters. Wow, I gotta say, I thought there would be more to tell than that, but that pretty much sums it up.

Happy HolidAYS

How about we employ another wonderful shameless plug instead of giving redundant details about the silly holiday party we had here at Hostwinds. Hmmm…what is glorious about Hostwinds that is worth shamelessly plugging? OH, I KNOW!

Literally. Everything.

Wait, did that come off as too arrogant? Hehehe, too bad! This being said, a Hostwinds service worth plugging is certainly our HIGH-CLASS VPNs. VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and VPNs are smart to get because they keep your info super secure and…private.

If you would like a more elaborate description of what VPNs are and what they do, these Hostwinds Knowledge Base guides will explain it to you much better than I:

https://www.hostwinds.com/guide/what-is-a-vpn/

https://www.hostwinds.com/guide/why-should-i-use-a-vpn/

I know what you’re thinking: “WHOA, now that I’ve learned about VPNs and why they are useful, I MUST get one this instant!”

I get it…I was thinking the same thing after reading those two Knowledge Base guides. You know I always got your back, so here is a link to Hostwinds’ website where you can click the green “Get Protected” button to order a Hostwinds VPN:

https://www.hostwinds.com/services/vpn

I know what you’re thinking: “WHOA, now that I’ve ordered a Hostwinds VPN, I MUST do a dance, celebrate, and host an ugly holiday sweater/holiday cookie party of my very own!”

What’s that? That is in no way what you were thinking? Oh, I see. I’m not always right…but, ALMOST always. Too arrogant again? Oh, in that case, let’s pretend this paragraph never happened and conclude.

Happy Holidays From the Hostwinds Family

No matter where you are, who you are with, what you are doing, and what kind of sweater you are wearing during this holiday season, the Hostwinds Family would like to wish you the most joyful festivities you’ve had thus far.

Hostwinds Holiday Cookie & Ugly Sweater Party

P.S. HOLIDAY COOKIE SURPRISE! We wouldn’t just tell you about all the cookies we ate without sharing one of the Hostwinds Family member’s recipes with you! We were lucky enough to get Gus’ amazing cookie recipe! Well, to be more accurate, this is Gus’ fiance’s mom’s holiday cookie recipe. To be even more accurate, these cookies are GLORIOUS! Enjoy!

Marcela’s Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

3 ¼ cups of flour
1 cup of unsalted butter (room temperature)
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
Powdered sugar (dip cookies into while cooling)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit
Put butter in bowl and whip for 10 minutes (to get fluffy air into butter)
Add in sugar and mix until fully combined
Add in vanilla and mix until fully combined
Add in all other ingredients except flour
Slowly mix in flour until dough is reminiscent to the texture of sugar cookies (maybe a tiny bit stickier)
Put on a greased baking sheet and use a tablespoon worth of cookie dough for each cookie
Roll each cookie into a ball (but not too much to ensure the air bubbles remain intact)
Press thumb in the middle of each cookie
Within the little thumb crater you just made in each cookie, you can put nuts, jam, melted chocolate, or anything yummy (Gus uses apricot jam)
Bake anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes
Press on a cookie and if it doesn’t have give, the cookies are ready to come out of the oven
Note: The cookies won’t darken very much because they don’t have that much sugar in them
Once they are cool enough to pick up, put each cookie face down into your powdered sugar and let cool

We wish we could (web hosting pun coming up:) host a holiday party for all within our worldwide Hostwinds community, but it would take quite a bit of planning to gather people from all over the world. Thus, we hope you enjoy our virtual holiday party in the form of this blog post and we hope you nurture and pamper yourselves a lot this holiday season. Happy Holidays!
