According to an article posted by the Web Hosting Industry Review, the founder of Wikipedia, Jimmy Wales, has recently commented about the National Security Agency (NSA) and its alleged PRISM surveillance program. Wales was reported in the article to say that PRISM "hurts confidence in the United States cloud computing services and gives oppressive regimes the grounds for greater censorship."
According to the report, at a Norwegian Information Technology event called Digital Winners, Wales comments about U.S. privacy concerns during his presentation regarding mobile access to Wikipedia in developing countries. Wales was quoted in the article to say, "_It's going to have a big impact on the cloud computing industry as people are afraid to put data in the U.S., but it's also devastating for the kind of work I do. Surveillance causes distrust of foreign services, causing many countries to take a more insular approach to internet services. In many cases, this means greater government involvement._"
