Hackers Attack Kickstarter, Steal User Information

Well-known project and idea funding website Kickstarter was reported to be the next victim of cyber-attack after hackers breached their security and "made off with user information_, "according to an article published by CNet. The article clarified that though the attackers captured "_usernames, e-mail addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and encrypted passwords_, "it stated that "_no credit card information was taken."

The article quoted a blog post published by the organization that said, "Actual passwords were not revealed. However, a malicious person with enough computing power can guess and crack an encrypted password, particularly a weak or obvious one." Kickstarter also warned, "_As a precaution. We strongly recommend creating a new password for your Kickstarter account and other accounts where you use this password._" As a result of Wednesday night's attack, Kickstarter "_immediately closed the security breach and began strengthening security measures throughout the Kickstarter system_, "according to the article.
