Vesta offers easy scheduling and management of cron jobs. Cron jobs allow for common tasks on the server to be automated according to your chosen schedule. Any user account can create cron jobs using the method seen below.
Step 1: Log in to your Vesta user account at YourServerIP:8083, then locate the Cron section of Vesta.
Step 2: You may find some default cron jobs located on this page. Additional cron jobs can be added using the green plus icon.
Step 3: From the "Adding Cron Job" tab, add the command to be run by the system in the first field.
Step 4: Cron jobs can be configured to run from once per minute to once per year and anywhere in between. Vesta's scheduling menu clearly labels the parameters available. You may schedule the cron job from either the Minutes, Hourly, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly tabs.
From the Minutes tab, you may select an option from the dropdown menu, then click generate.
Every minute will be reflected as an asterisk (*) in the "Minutes" field on the left. Every 15 minutes would be reflected as */15, and so on.
The Hourly tab allows the cron job to be scheduled on the 0th, 15th, 30th, or 45th minute of every 1, 2, 6, or 12 hours.
The Daily tab allows the cron job to be scheduled every single, every odd or even, or every 3, 5, 10, or 15 days. Beyond this, the cron job can be scheduled down to the hour and minute.
The Weekly tab allows scheduling for weekdays only, weekends only, every day, or specific days of the week. Then the hour and minute can be specified.
The Monthly tab allows scheduling for every single, every odd or even, every 3 or 6, or a specific month. From there, the date, hour, and minute can be selected.
Step 5: Lastly, the cron job will be added to the user account after clicking the Add button.
