A cloud server is a Virtual Private Server (VPS) on Hostwinds' Cloud platform. Cloud servers are virtualized within our Cloud platform using enterprise drives and hardware for dedicated resources your server utilizes. They can be quickly created in just a few clicks of your mouse and customized to meet your needs. SSD Cloud and Unmanaged SSD Cloud Hostwinds plans fall into the cloud server category.
Cloud offerings are in template-backed preset resource allocations (RAM, CPU Cores, Disk Space, Bandwidth) options ranging from 1 to 10. The entry-level option (option 1) has the lowest allocated resources. The highest option (option 10) has the most. Template-backed options are a cheaper alternative to our Custom Cloud offerings. They are generally the best choice for affordability and the resources provided.
You can upgrade your level at any time from your Cloud Control Panel. You can choose from upgrading to a higher template-backed option to go with a Custom Cloud server.
We offer these options in SSD cloud offerings.
The only resource you can add without upgrading to a new option is a volume. Once a volume is purchased, it can be mounted and partitioned to your server.
Unmanaged cloud hosting plans are provided at a reduced price, as they receive zero support assistance from Hostwinds staff. These servers are best for Hostwinds clients who are highly knowledgeable in the operating system they've selected. If one chooses to go this route, self-support is the only way to fix any issues you encounter.

All of our cloud hosting options have the choice to be billed hourly. If you're not sure how long you'll require a server, or perhaps you want to try something out quickly, hourly billed servers are perfect for you. Upon ordering an hourly cloud product, the server instantly spins up, and we only bill for your actual usage. Once you cancel the server, we stop billing for it.

Basic Server Monitoring
Our monitoring service is highly customizable and submits a support ticket on your behalf should your service fail a check or test. Our support technicians review and resolve the issue without any interaction required, often before clients know that a problem may have even occurred. Hostwinds recommends our monitoring service if a system-critical service runs on your server.
Our Cloud Backups services allow for customization of the backup contents, the timing of the backups, and how long you retain the backup. You can do this from the backup configuration file at any time. You'll be able to perform restores yourself and manage your data retention with ease. DDoS Protected IPs
Our DDoS-protected IPs allow your server to withstand possible network attacks and filter malicious traffic keeping your website and server online. You have complete control of your DDoS-protected IPs. You can manage both the filter status and layer 7 filtering. We offer website migrations for cloud servers during their initial 60 days of service. Once you've ordered your server, submit a technical support ticket requesting a website migration. You'll need to provide us with your previous hosting details (hosting package logins), and our support staff will perform the following:
